31 May, 2004 2004 Harvest

Oyster Bay Marlborough Vineyards Limited (OBMV) is pleased to report that the 2004 harvest, concluded earlier this month, yielded a total of 3,155 tonnes of grapes across all varieties, slightly above expected yield for the vintage. OBMV produces sauvignon blanc, chardonnay and pinot noir grapes, and some small quantities of riesling.

This resulted from good growing conditions during the year, notwithstanding some frost towards the end of the season, and colder conditions than normal in February, and from careful management of the estate to ensure that quality was not compromised by the evident increase in volume.

The grape purchase contract negotiated between OBMV and Delegat's Wine Estate, which produces Oyster Bay wines, resulted in the harvested grapes realising a total of $6,554,776 - an average of $2,073 a tonne across all varieties.

The Chairman Bill Falconer said that the company was pleased that in addition to the increased volume, the quality of the vintage had been very good overall, and as a consequence the company would be in profit and expected be able to declare a maiden dividend when final accounts for the full year ending 30 June were to hand.
